We are a family-run Cantonese Takeaway based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. We have been established for over 35 years in the local area. We pride ourselves on our high standard of customer service and a broad range of fresh, delicious Cantonese meals.
We're based approximately 35-40 minutes drive from Manchester City Centre, or 20-minutes via the train and a 10-minute walk to our location.
Job Description
We are seeking a PART-TIME Wok Chef/Sous Chef to join our friendly team. You will be expected to work on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Previous experience as a Wok Chef/Sous Chef is highly preferable, as it is a fast-paced kitchen and you must be able to work in a busy environment.
You will have experience in Cantonese cuisine and food preparation to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen during busy service hours.
You must be able to communicate well with other team members and have the ability to work unsupervised. The suitable candidate must be flexible, reliable, organised, friendly and have the ability to learn quickly.
Your day-to-day duties include:
Supporting the head chef in running the kitchen.
Assist in prep work including chopping vegetables, meats, seafood, poultry and preparing sauces and fried produce.
Cooking and preparing the meals consistently, whilst also adhering to our high food standards and overseeing cooking techniques used.
Ensure that food is stored correctly.
Ensuring the kitchen meets high standards of quality and complying to strict food hygiene standards.
Managing inventory and controlling stock numbers.
Establishing strong working relationship with staff in the kitchen.
Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, to adhere to health and safety guidelines.
Ensuring that any kitchen appliances and equipment are set up and ready to use for every shift.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience working as a Wok Chef/Sous Chef (end wok) in a fast-paced kitchen.
Good understanding of food hygiene and food safety.
Ability to multitask and stay organised during busy service hours.
Excellent communication skills with the management and kitchen staff.
Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
Able to perform well under pressure.
If successful in applying, a work trial will be offered to ensure that you are trained and fully on board with working with us. A full-time job may be offered to the right candidate.
You must be able to work between 3.30pm and 10.30pm and able to accommodate flexible working hours.
Expected start date is on 19/01/2021.
A driving licence is preferable, but not essential. Must be able to travel to Macclesfield.
Ability to speak English & Cantonese is advantageous.
You must have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
